Hello my little basil leaves! Today we are learning how to be quick and make quick basil oil. With this easy recipe you can garnish every meal, and it will look LIT! You don’t have to be the chef of haute cuisine to do so. We’ll do it in a few minutes, and believe me, only the sky is the limit with this one.
Instead of quick basil oil, you can make, rosemary, parsley, lemon, orange, whatever-you-like-oil. You can even make your own Oreo oil if you want (but don’t do it, this right there is crossing the kitchen line, don’t cross the kitchen line my little basil leaf!).
How to make quick basil oil?
First you need to have your fresh basil. We take ours from nona Maria on the local market, she swears her basil grows organically right from the left Caesars testicle, so we don’t ever doubt that (Maria, we love you!). Find your quality basil and pick the leaves. Just quickly wash it under cold water and put it in the mixer.
Add fresh young (green) olive oil to it (you can add whatever oil you like, but it needs to complementary to the herb you use). Give it a good mix and pour the mixture in a fine sieve. Push the fresh juice into a bowl with a teaspoon, repeat the process if your sieve gets cloggy. If you want to get the pure extract you can add a gauze to your sieve, then you get a nice clean and clear liquid. And now comes the best part.
Your basil oil is full of flavor and READY to be served! Can it get any quicker than this? Well, it always can (ask your ex). To preserve the delicate aromas, serve it immediately! If you want you can even add a little salt to it, but we like it all natural!
Quick cooking instructions
- Pick your basil leaves and wash them under cold water.
- In a mixer add the basil leaves and olive oil and give it a good mix.
- Sieve everything through a fine sieve (you can add a gauze to get a clear liquid).
- Serve immediately.
